Backup Exec – Unable to attach to a resource

November 27, 2014 By Damitha Anuradha Leave a Comment

Backup Exec – Job Failed, The job failed with the following error: The test run has detected a potential problem.

Error: e000848c, The job failed with following error: Unable to attach to resource. Ensure that the selected resource exists and is online, and then try again. If the server or resource no longer exists, remove it from the selections.

Go to your relevant backup job and click on edit.

Check the selected resources. As you see on below screen “SQL2008” Database has an error “An attempt to connect to SQL Server has failed.” The SQL log on user account does not have required permission for run this backup job. So we have to assign required permission on the SQL server and re run the backup/test run job.
