Lync Server 2010 Edge Server Role Configuration Step by Step

Open Topology Builder and right click on Edge pools and click New Edge Pool…

Click Next

Define the Edge pool FQDN.

Lync Edge Features. Select first feature if you would like to use single FQDN and IP address for all Lync services. (SIP, Web Conferencing and A/V Edge)

Specify External FQDNs.

Specify the Internal IP address of the edge server.

Define the external IP Addresses.

Define the public IP Address

Select the Front End Pool.

Edit Access Edge Configuration.

Publish the topology.

Export topology configuration.

Export-CSConfiguration -filename C:\Lync_Topology_Export.zip

And copy exported zip file in to Lync Edge Server.

Now log on to the edge server. Set your server IP configuration. Don’t set Default Gateway IP for Internal network adapter.

Set External network adapter.

Go to My Computer Properties and add your domain as DNS suffix.

Also create a DNS record for Lync edge server on your internal DNS Server.

Install .NET Framework Features.

Start the Lync Server Installation.

Click Install or Update Lync server system.

Click Run.

Click Browse and select zip file which copied earlier.

Now you can see Lync Server Edge services are appear on Services snap in.

Now we have to point internal servers in Edge server.

To do this open Notepad with Administrator privilege.

Open hosts file.

Add entries for domain and Lync front end pool.

Access CA, download and install CA Certificate.

Request, Install or Assign Certificates.

Click Request.

Specify Certification Authority.

Define Name and Security Settings.

Select External Edge certificate and click Request.

Now we can start services.
