FIXED: Exchange Server 2010 Backup from Windows Server Backup fails with “The consistency check failed for the component …”

June 22, 2011 By Damitha Anuradha 1 Comment

Error Code:
This application will not be available for recovery from this backup. This consistency check failed for the component Microsoft Exchange Server\Microsoft Information Store\EX4\cc08f60d-e02f-47a0-b972e165fb50ec, Contact the application vendor for help in resolving.

If you are using any third-party antivirus or backup software which running on the Exchange server, please close them temporary and perform the backup again.

If above issue still occurs, Create a new mailbox database and move all mailboxes within that database to the newly created database. Then perform the back up again.

Move all mailbox from one Mailbox Database to another Mailbox Database:
Get-Mailbox -Database ‘Existing Mailbox Database Name‘ | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase ‘New Mailbox Database Name‘

If you are getting “The mailbox database contains one or more mailboxes or arbitration mailboxes..” error refer below link post to fix it.
